Land Registry Question

Wondering if someone can help with this. I have just bought the title register off the land registry for a property I am 'interested' in. This shows that the property was sold in December 2008, the price paid, the person who bought it and who they borrowed the money from.
How do I find out who sold it, which is the important question for me? Is there some sort of search I can do?
Thanks - fingers crossed

Could the Land Registry give you any more information - or a local estate agent

If the property was mortgaged the previous owner would be the mortgage company, as they would hold the Deeds. I would think looking on an electoral role may give you an idea of who the property belonged to before, but not a guarantee, as someone it may have been sub-let. Hope that makes sense?

Another thought have you googled the actual address? See if anything comes up i.e. estate agent?
