I am also on the search for my birth father - still looking with the help of cousin. I was fostered before i was 5yrs old now 32. If people dont want kids then they should use precautions i know i was fostered because of my disability.

I agree it is a delicate situation, and how ever I manage to resolve it I will tread carefully!

I would tread very carefully on this matter.

34 years is a long time for a father to have no contact with his son.

It may have come as a shock to him to hear from you.

Could it be that he cannot handle the situation?

He may need time to think about this.

If you push the matter, you will drive him away.

Very gently, whatever his decision is, you will have to abide by it.

Go gently and take care.

I hope you both can find a way forward and get a more positive outcome.

Did you send him a private message from here? Also, are you definitely sure that this is him?

If so, then I would advise you not to go any further. If you have sent him a private message and given him a way to contact you - then if he doesn't, he must have a very good reason for not doing so, and I think you should respect his wishes in this.

It may well be that he doesn't want to know you - but I tend to think it could be something to do with his current family situation. Disappointing as this most probably is for you - just make sure HE can contact YOU and leave it at that. The ball is in his court then.

Hi Dylan,

I sympathize with you in this situation Dylan, your father being missing from your whole life must be difficult for you, thirty four years is along time and to be that close to making contact with him and he shuts the door in your face must be awful.

There could be a thousand and one reasons why he's blocked you from contacting him, maybe if you wrote a personal letter to Genes Reunited and explained the whole situation they could offer a way forward on this one.

Hi there!
thank you for reading my post!
I really would like the opportunity to meet my father, as I haven't seen him since I was 2 months old! (34 now!!!)
I am using a search company, and they are doing there best.
Has anybody got any ideas of how I can do some of the investigating myself?!
There are no records that include his name since I was born. Nothing on the electoral role, etc.
Ironically, he uses this site. Has blocked me just for saying hello!
Would just like to know what the best thing to do is, and I do feel it's my right!

Again, thank you for reading this. If you can give me some guidance YAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!
