Has anyone here had chicken pox more than once?

Some blister like spots have appear on my belly & I've been in contact with children who have recently come down with the dreaded pox.

I have heard of it, Claire, and in adults the virus can be reactivated as shingles.

Think I had a small dose of this, myself, when chicken-pox was going around, but the blisters were only my arms, and I had no real pain, or difficulties.

I did catch German measles as an adult, though, having been exposed to it many times, in childhood, without catching it.

Hi Claire,

Don't wont to worry you, but it could be SHINGLES - try to get to the doctors as soon as - you need to start taking medication - the sooner the better!! Try not to scratch the spots, apply calamine lotion. I had shingles at the beginning of April, i am just beginning to feel better.

Hope it's not too painful for you.

You can get it more than once. Generally if you have a mild primary infection. Shingles is also a possiblity as others have said. Try and see your local phamacist or out of hours doctor... Try not to be in a waiting room as of course you will pass it on! If you explain to the out of hours service what you think it is then they should arrange for you to be seen when they are relatively quiet!

Hope you feel better soon..

I had it aged 10ish and then aged 38 (thanks kids!).

I don't remember it being that bad first time around but when older it was awful.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks ladies, I'm keeping an eye on the spots to see if any more appear but so far they seems to have stopped at 6.

Chicken pox will come up all over and take ten days to go and you can get it as many times as your body kets you ...

Shingles comes in patches and will RUN often in a line this will also take ten days to go BUT the tired and run down feeling can takes AGES!!!!! to go and often you get "flare ups" from shingles .....for many years and "may" need tablets to help you with them

Good Luck but see a doctor coz shingles can have cause problems for people with decreased immune systems .....

Hi Clare, yes Iv'e had the dreaded chicken pox three times and my youngest daughter four. If any Doctors are listening and try to refute this I would say bulls**t you can get it more than once
