I just wanted to tell you of a FH possibility we discovered a few weeks ago. My Mother in law died at age 92 and at the funeral which was conducted by Salvation Army officers it was said that they had a recording of Mum's life from the age of 8 done some years ago. It apparently has stories and towns with dates on it. So I am going te request a copy as we have discovered that her father wasn't her father and may be able to solve some mysteries because she would only switch off when we asked questions. This is the first time I have written but do enjoy reading about everybody. Rosebud

That sounds an interesting recording.
I hope it makes things clearer for you to piece together her earlier life story.

If your Nan used to switch off when you asked questions it is clear she actually knew more of her history than she let on. Although you need to keep an open mind just make sure you are prepared for any unpalatable truths that may result.

Things have happened on the maternal side of my family which should not happen in families and, at first, they are just facts and figures but when you start to think about what the things actually mean it is all quite sad and tragic.

I don't want to upset you - but be prepared just in case.

I would be so excited to have that to look forward to, even if there is something that comes to light which is upsetting, it lets you know your relative in a more understanding way and as someone who didn't know my Dad's side of the family very well, and am only now gleaning more info it is fascinating to know where you come from and the things that helped shaped you.

Hope you can get a copy of the records soon - let us know if you feel you can, what interesting things you discover.

Nice to have you posting too, come back again
