My grandson was thrown out of school last June.Diagnosed ADHD and now is on medication since Nov.He got 6 hours a week private tutor. He finally went back to school in march for 2 hours a day 10 hours a week.He goes in at 11.30-1.30.Not allowed there for any breaks. He is on a one to one with a teachers assistant. On tuesday i picked him up at lunch and he told me he had to go and see mr ..as there was a incident with the group of boys he was with going from one lesson to the other.Friday i got a phone call from the school to say i had to keep him home as he had sqirted a boy in the eyes with a spray bottle of water.Asked where he had got the bottle from, they think from another pupil?Questioned my grandson and he said he was the boy that had the water squirted in his eyes and that a teacher see it happened and chased the other boy and took my grandson to his class and asked what happened. This school recieves30 hours extra money a week as grandson is statemented and they still can not keep him 10 hours.I think this is disgusting. Not sure who i complain to either. Annie

Hi Annie, what a rubbish lot at that school if they can't even get the facts right, they seem to pick on your J. all the time, don't they?

I hope you can get this sorted out, surely they should be having him in the school longer if they are getting the money for it.

Dear Grannie of 10

Hello, not normally on the night shift but k stones are causing problems.

First of all, you need to obtain the following from the school

Mission statement
Complaints procedure.
Special needs statements.

You wll probably need to make a formal written complaint to the head about this.

Make sure you have all the facts, times, dates, etc. Keep to the point.
What about this teacher who saw what happened?
What is he doing?

Does your school have a parent governotr mediator who sorts out problems? Or the Special needs manager?

Try and nip this in the bud is possible.

As for the amount of money, it is incredible. They are supposed to provide support and help, not profit from it.

Not sure about handling that one. Would need to start checking.

Do you live in England because some of the helplines and complaints places are different?

By the way, I was a school governor. I also sat on school dispute panels.
New curriculum yes, but the principles of teaching and treating children and young people the same.

Very best wishes
x
