Due to a losing bet (for want of a better word) I have to iron my OH's work shirts. Do you iron the sleeves 1st or the shoulder bit ?? by the way the sleeves have a double seam down the back of them !

do the body of the shirt first ~ be sure to leave an iron print in the bk of each one this will ensure you never need iron again ~ do bk of sleeve then front x

Collars then sleaves....then body no double seems.

I do the sleeves first but I am a really crap ironer.

Reminds me of a tale in one of the womens mags from years ago......this Mother took her future daughter in law , and taught her how to iron her sons shirts......

(when doing the collars, start at the point and work inwards.....else you get unwanted creases at the pointy bit....)

Whats an iron? lol

Seriously, once you iron something, then after each wash it will always need to be ironed. This is because the act of ironing changes the structure of the fibres. Which means that the fabric will crease after each wash (according to my old physics teacher) & so will need to be ironed again.

On a new items 1st wash. If you shake it & dry it out flat, shake again & hang it. Most, or all of the creases will fall out. (not guaranteed I've binned a few shirts that didn't lol).
But once you iron it. Then thats it, it will always require ironing.

I was always taught to iron the collar first then the cuffs. Only then do you do the sleeves and the main body.

Hang it straight away, or if you must fold it, fold it like the manufacturers do, buttoned up, shoulders folded behind, sleeves doubled back on the length of it, then fold upwards in three, leaving the collar and first few buttons on display.

(Why do you think I hang shirts on a flippin' hanger LOL)

Well I got out of that one lol

he ironed them himself *phew

And so he should Uzzi!....My Oh irons all his own shirts....I am far too busy doing less frivolous stuff :-))
