I am making a spicy chicken with pasta dish, smothered in melted cheese and a crisp salad to cool down my mouth.

Think I will call OH and ask him to pick up a few cold beers, on his way home from work to wash it all down.

Not exactly diet food I know, but I get these terrible cravings to eat something forbidden.

Well funny you should say that Lindy, my o.h. made some tuna and pasta bake this morning so he could take a portion to work as he is on late shift. We have a supermarket nearby where he would sometimes get those ready meals if they were reduced or on offer, but now they have changed from Somerfield to Budgens the prices seem higher and there aren't any offers, and he doesn't seem to like the look of the meals, hence him bothering to do it himself! He said before he went off, I got a bit carried away so there is plenty if you want some for your dinner! He's somehow made twice as much as usual lol, so defo dinner and some to take to my lad as well if I don't get too greedy, it's very tasty and I might eat more than I should !

Enjoy your dinner, sounds good except I can't eat spicy foods and don't like beer!

Lol..Liz,

Thanks, I can't eat spicy food either, but as long as I take omaprazol, eat early enough, and don't pig out I should be okay. I love an ice cold beer or two but sometimes regret it afterwards. It depends entirely on what kind of a mood my "hernia" is in.

Coincidently, the second choice for dinner was pasta and tuna salad but mayonnaise does not go down well with me at night.

Enjoy your dinner as well ;)

Lindy, if I eat anything too spicy, the inside of my lips swell and tingle too much to be comfortable or worth the taste! My tum is pretty good, and can cope with most things lol Funny I don't like beer, my Dad and other members of Mum's family all worked at a local brewery here in Norwich, now long gone of course.

Enjoy and don't have too many after effects!

Sharron,

If his cooking is that horrible you can always come on over for a plate of pasta, but if that is too spicy for you I made a pot of fresh vegetable soup this morning. ;)

Thanks Liz,
Enjoy your evening!

I think the chip shop might be a bit closer than the Algarve but thank you for the offer anyway.

Just had 36 hours, under observation, in hospital, and still no answers to digestive problems. But, after clearing out the fridge of fresh foods bought for the weekend, thanks to the freezer, have found a home made meat and potatoe pie. Have called at local T***s for some fresh greens, so that will do tonight. Well, I have an OH to feed you know, and anyway, I don't eat the pastry. Back to the Cordon Blue tomorrow.

Morning everyone,

Sorry I could not get back to my thread last night.

Dinner was a disaster as my youngest son and I were at each others throats AGAIN! I wish he would grow up and find a job.

Moan over :)

Sharron,

I wish we had a chip shop over here it would be so great. The last time I was at a chippy was when Jan from York took me to Whitby.. ? (spelling) and that goes back a few years.

Julia,

I hope that you get your digestive problems sorted out as it can be very frustrating. I have lived with mine for over thirty years and know what I can and can't have but that does not stop me from eating what I should not.

Rosalyn,

I love home made chicken soup but nobody else in the family does, I can't eat pizza's but love baked potatoes with sour cream and crumbed bacon but have to take a pill before eating it.

Mummo,

Smoked haddock, yummy! Have not had that since the last time I went home which is going on five years.

Jude,

Your dinner was "right up ally" except for the parsnips, I will pass on those.

Ladies,

Thanks for sharing, I have no idea what's for dinner this evening, but in the mood I am in I am all for setting the table and serving bread and jam.

Have a good day everyone!

That sounds delicious Lindy.......afraid I am not a spicy one either......but I have gone from a Korma to a Tikka Masala.......and have a thingy of chilli flakes which are good on soup....

Just had 5 scallops ' cos I was hungry and only 60 calories.......for lunch I have beef and veg in a yorkshire pud.......which was only 59p in T****s yesterday......with some extra veg......

Isn't it funny that whatever you have planned for dinner........what other members are having always sounds nicer....

I made a really yummy apricot tart thing at the weekend. It was a kind of experiment that worked.

I had some dried apricots that were hanging so looked for an apricot curd recipe on the internet.

Made the curd with an extra egg and saved the whites.Mixed the curd with ground almonds that were also hanging about, put it in the tart, baked it.Then I made the whites into a meringue for the top.

I think,if it were pukka,it would be called apricot amber.

Don't care what it is called,it does taste expensive.
