Did you see the married couple who are both MP's, she claimed for her second home in London and he claimed for his in their home town (or vice versa) so between them they clawed back over a Quarter of a Million...,
they must have thought they'd died and gone to heaven

Nobody can tell me they didn't know that was a fiddle.....

I think a good idea would for the government to have an old ship converted to a floating hotel on the thames where Mp's have to stay. no more claims for a second home.

The BBC (on it's Politics site)lists all the MPs by name,what they have claimed and their responses-very interesting !

Replace them with some people with common sense and integrity.

I have today written a letter to our local South Wales Echo and asked them if they can publish a kind of league table - who has their snouts deepest in the trough and who hasn't had their nose in the trough at all - we have local MEP elections coming up next month and I want to know before I have to vote. It's no good them blaming the system - they are the architects of the system so no defence there then - I'll see if they publish my letter

Paying the money back - in Hazel Blears case £1300 she gained whilst avoiding Capital gains Tax by declaring her 2nd home was her first doesn't take away the fact that they were more than happy to cheat the populace for their own financial gain!
AND the fact that she can just pay back what is a years wage to an awful lot of people makes it even worse!!!

shucks that'll be one less holiday abroad for her this year - shame!

What I cant under is ,why cant these MP's rent a furnished flat near Westminster so as not have to pay for all the expense that they claim for.
After all most of them have a another home elsewhere..!!

My son rents a furnish flat in London because he works in London ,but has a home elsewhere with his family.

Perfectly adequate for him .

Every one who has claimed more than they should or fiddled them ,should be sacked, Prosecuted,and made to pay back every penny plus interest,or bankrupt them .the put them in prison.**M**
