ShimmsRedRoseAndMistletoe Report 16 May 2009 17:47

For or against washing dogs or cats in the Dog O Matic

Tis like a washing machine, where dogs are placed inside, washed and dried. The inventor insists the dogs come to no harm.

Just read about in in today's Daily Mail.

Me ... I vote against, reason ... the hair on the back of my neck stood on end when I saw the little dog in the machine.

Cutie, angie

I like to have an 'open' mind yet this to my mind is wrong, I so agree. xxx

Hello my precious
I've just looked at the picture - NO NO NO, I'd no more put my Archie in there than fly to the moon, I'd be terrified of the machine breaking down and not being able to get him out

Hi Barb

Oh Barb, me too ... couldn't imagine putting our Cass in such a thing and yet apparently it is a huge success, so much so that she is trying to bring it here.

Not one for demonstrations yet I do think I would on this occasion, demonstrate against it.

Whirley Report 16 May 2009 18:50

Shimm's my Zeus man would not be happy in one of those things. He is very good in the bath/shower, bless him, but something like that would frighten the living day lights out of him...........I think that machine is cruel imho.

I saw that picture in the paper and I thought it was horrible

ShimmsRedRoseAndMistletoe Report 16 May 2009 18:57

I think it would frighten the daylights out of me Whirley, ... bless your Zeus, he sounds so lovely.

I have to say that I too find that machine cruel, just my opinion yet I could not believe my own eyes that someone would do that to their pet, his/her little paws up against the glass. My heart was breaking, truly it was. Cass is part of my family, I would never put anyone in a washing machine or whatever that machine is supposed to be. xxx

Shimmy, if she brings that contraption over here will she be prepared to step inside it herself and give us a demonstration? I doubt it

Although I wouldn't mind force feeding her into it myself

ShimmsRedRoseAndMistletoe Report 16 May 2009 19:01

Hi Patricia

Me too ...

Quite astounded that the newspaper thought it acceptable to publish, there would be uproar I think if someone put a child in it, anyone in fact.
xxx

I doubt it Barb, have just discussed it with my OH who is adamant that animals would be frightened. xxx

Very against it Shimms
even when i own 3 white dogs myself and its not the first time I've been wetter than the dogs after trying to bathe them, holding down with 1 hand wash with the other and the whole time they try to get out the water and not to mention the shake that they do for spite and you end up drying the ceiling lol

Looks rather cruel - should think the poor dog would be terrified.
Our dog hated being bathed the conventional way, and sulked for several hours after.

Hi Uzzi

We have friends who own a Kennels & Cattery, have seen how the dogs enjoy their grooming; they are treated with respect and love.

Yes, we have to bathe Cass too, he is rather fond of getting muddy and more.

Next time we're chatting, I'll ask them what they think, am certain they would be opposed to this. xxx

Mons, me too ... have been soaked literally, even if it's only when I'm trying to dry Cass after a walk in the rain ... me, the walls, floor everything gets 'showered' as he shakes himself to get dry.

Walls have to be cleaned, floors washed and dried yet still I would never consider such a thing. xxx

Hi Liz

Doesn't it just, for me the dog in the piccie did look petrified. Am just wondering what the RSPCA make of it all. xxx

Foggy Report 16 May 2009 19:26

What I cant understand is, why go to the expense of actually paying to put your dog in that machine when there is normally a perfectly good washing machine in nearly every household.

ShimmsRedRoseAndMistletoe Report 16 May 2009 19:48

Foggyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, you are sooooooooooo norti! Teasing us like that!

Norti, norti boy, what are you like lol? xxx

Changing the title, have just re-read ... oh my word, they say you can put cats in too. As if I would put my darling ... in the equivalent of a washing machine.
