Roast chicken, home made sage and onion stuffing and all the veggies... plus yorkshires and home made mint sauce sound a strange combination to you????

It sounds ok to me.... hubby looked at me all strange, lolol!!

Winter Drawers Ever Near

Winter Drawers Ever Near Report 17 May 2009 15:57

We have yorkshire pudding with every roast dinner whatever the meat. We love them!

My husband puts mint sauce on pork as he doesn't like apple sauce.

We were in an Italian restaurant last night and my daughter had chargrilled chicken and it was cooked in fresh rosemary which I would never have thought of using with chicken.

Is there a hard and fast rule? It's whatever takes your fancy.

Enjoy.

wmsl... well, the garden mint is lovely and flourishing... and I haven't been able to have the home made stuff cos of the neutropenia and risk of infection.... but now I can, and I fancy some... and the sage is lovely, too, and we already have chicken in the oven.... plus, well, I went off yorkshires after the chemo... and just fancied them today.... so I fancy them all.... just wondered whether it was really as odd as hubby seems to think.

When I was pregnant I liked pickled onion dipped in ice cream.

Hubby says if I have all that on the same plate I can go into the garden and eat it, lolol

Sounds OK to me Daff, although if I'm being picky I'd say I prefer parsley and thyme stuffing with chicken, but that's just me.
Your dinner sounds great.

EDIT
Pickled onions in ice cream ? ...Now that IS odd !!

Lol Gwyn.... I also had huge urges for those kebabs from the back of Fama G market... remember? With LOADS of lemon on them... delicious.... I could scoff one right now!! Poor R used to walk down to get me one, as we only got the car in my last couple of weeks, lol.

I haven't got any parsley and the Thyme looks a bit sorry for itself!! Otherwise I think that would go in as well!!

Aileen, I sometimes roast a chicken with great wadges of rosemary stuffed into it.... scrummy!! And the gravy is to die for!!

Well.... let's go and see what I can concoct, lololol!!

You just want it all Daff don't you?? Well, it sounds OK to me, not sure about the mint sauce with chicken but maybe it will start a new trend. Anyway, who first decided mint sauce was for lamb?

Actually we had tapas, squid rings fried in batter, canarian potatoes, Mojo sauce, tomato bread and garlic bread.

Lol Joan... my granddaughter's *other grandad* is a true Yorkshire man.... he remembers that, having the pudding first and then the dinner afterwards, except for his dad and his working brothers, as they paid into the pot, he said, so his mam would give them their dinner first and make sure there was enough gravy and puds left for them afterwards lol... but he loves my yorkshires and would have them with mince and taters if that was all I had to offer him, lol.... In fact....... I caught him eating the cold leftover ones when they stayed with us a while back ;¬))

I think my taste buds have still not sorted themselves out after the chemo..... so any traditionalists will just have to forgive my weird taste and fancies!!

Ann..... yours sounds wonderful, too!! I think my buds are just beginning to re-awaken...... so I may end up with some very strange meals for a while, lol I still can't quite bring myself to eat lettuce yet..... but ate a tomato with the skin on yesterday.... it felt very daring and risky, lol

I hope the weather is still being kind to you.... it is being kind to your garden at home, as well, enough rain to keep your plants from drying out!!

~~~~~~ to Jude....... sometimes I cheat and add fresh stuff to *pad out* the bought stuff....... but the herbs seem to be spectacular at the moment.... and loads of stale bread available, so it seems a shame to waste it!!
I do like lettuce but only if I have either mayo or salad dressing on it. Had salad for our meal last night, couldn't be bothered to go out, tuna, ham and egg slad with crusty bread and potato salad. and, sad people we watched the Eurovision contest! Tonight we have savoury mince with mushrooms on rice. Only do easy meals here as the kitchen is quite small and not used to cooking with bottled gas.
MrDaff Report 17 May 2009 17:07
wmsl.... we watched it too, lololol!! I cooked with bottled gas, years ago... when we first got married... that is all that was available, so I blamed all my culinary disasters (boy, were there some, looking back on it, lol) on that!!
Well, roasties are now in...... I have decided against the mint sauce cos we shall buy some nice lamb steaks tomorrow!! Stuffing is all sorted.... it's ages since I made my own, so I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but have Paxo as a back up... Yorkshire mix is all made ready to go in the oven... chook is *resting* and just got the gravy to make.... it all smells good, anyway.
