Well as you are aware I did the unthinkable and took my son and his wife to court over the rights to have contact with my grand children,have not seen them for 2 1/2 years now and I finally decided enough was enough,my solicitor went to them before court commenced asked if they wanted to settle all I could see was him shaking his head,thought it would drop off.
We went into court,boy was I scared but our solicitor did a real good job,my son represented themselves,the magistrates spent most of their time staring at my hubby and me and then when my son spoke all he came out with was pure lies,magistrates saw me shaking my head at his comments,they adjurned came back 15 minutes later and said WE ARE RULING IN FAVOUR OF THE GRAND PARENTS I was almost in tears,so round one to us,they brought in an emergency CAFFCASS officer and asked for reports on the children for July 14th,we then go back to court August 19th for results,the magistrate declared that we had had a lot of contact with our gradchildren and it should be sorted fast as we have played a very large part in their lives.
My son and wife scowled and left the court like the had a ton of rocket fuel up his backside,at least we stayed and thanked the magistrates and they acknowledged us,even the usher said well done darling and that was a women.
My next dates are really going to scare me,my son reckons he had asked the children did they want to see us and he said they said no,I dont believe that for one moment,he is a very intimidating person.
Caffcass have requested all evidence of contact we have ever had with our grand children,good job I flew 18kilos out to uk then wasnt it.
Anyway please keep thinking positive for me I need all the help I can get.

Today in the news they are saying that this needs to be sorted coz so many grandparents dont see their grandchildren coz of marriage breaks ,...........but also other problems they say it should be made easier for grandparents to have access

What lucky grandchildren that their grandparents love them so much they are willing to go to hell and back for them. Hope all goes well for you .

As a gran, I would have done the same thing. As you say, like myself, you have been a large part of your grandchildren's upbringing. As the adult, you can speak on the wee ones behalf.

Your grandchildren can only grow, with your envolvment.

OH! I HAVE A LUMP IN MY THROAT READING THIS, AND WISH YOU WELL IN YOUR QUEST.
MY LIFE WOULD BE SO EMPTY WITHOUT MY G.SONS.
I HAVE G.DAUGHTERS I HAVE NEVER HAD CONTACT WITH, SO I DON'T MISS THEM, BUT AS YOU HAVE HAD A LOT TO DO WITH YOUR G.KIDS , YOU SHOULD BE ALLOWED CONTACT WITH THEM.

I HAD A FRIEND IN THE SAME POSITION AS YOU, BUT SHE COULDN'T AFFORD TO GO TO COURT, AS HER SOLICITOR TOLD HER SHE WOULDN'T STAND MUCH CHANCE OF SEEING HER G.KIDS ANYWAY.

Ths had me in tears! GOOD LUCK to you both. My granddaughter lived with us for first six months of her life until son and daughter in-law got settled in their own home. She is now 5 yrs old we baby sit whenever needed, I pick her up from school when needed. Look after her when she is ill while her mum goes to work. We have holidays togeather etc: BUT you never know what the future holds. My heart breaks at the thought of what you must be going through.
