Muffy , I heard about it on the radio and was amazed that such a thing could happen.
Apparently the DNA test was called for as the babies look very different ( perhaps one of them looks like the other man ? ).

They will have been fraternal twins, which means two separate eggs, and not identical twins, which is one egg split after fertilization.

I've heard of it before: apparently the "deeds" must occur within a very short time period:

puts a hole new meaning to the words "next please".))))

LOL I knew it happened with cats but I never really thought about it with Humans !!! Though thinking about it I don't know why I didn't think it was possible ......I don't suppose I ever really thought about it !

I lead a sheltered life pmsl.

I wonder why the Husband asked for the DNA in the first place.....My children were chatting as I was watching and I missed that bit xx

Two kinds o' twins are possible.

Identical -- both from the same egg, which splits early on to make two embryos.

Fraternal (kind of a stupid term if one or both are girls) -- from two different eggs, released about the same time.

I think it's fraternal is the hereditary kind -- the tendency to release two eggs when ordinarily only one is released is what's inherited.

So in the two-egg scenario, the eggs could indeed be fertilized by sperm from different sources!

Hi Muffy,

I knew that could happen, but it's very unusual.

I've got twin boys but they're identical, wasn't having any secret flings, they were both fathered by my ex. Poor lads ;o)

Saw on the news today a mother in the USA had twin boys.......husband wanted her to do a DNA test and it turns out the twin boys have two different fathers.......the husband and a guy she had a secret fling with !

I'm ashamed to say I didn't even know that could happen !!!

Am i very naive or was anyone else in the dark about this too? xx
