owls, foxes, peewits, oystercatchers, curlews, hedgehogs in the undergrowth, badgers snuffling in the woods out the back, deer barking, rabbits squealing when caught by a stoat, rafters creaking, bats scuttling around in the eaves - and you think it's too quiet!

But I love to hear them, I can put a name to every noise I hear and they are like old friends. Nothing nicer than drifting off to sleep listening to a pair of tawny owls calling to each other on a moonless night.

The river rushing. The snowpack is melting so the river is raging.
Funny thing is, I don't hear the river, but visitors do. I'm used to it I guess.
