I need to know the weight of an Abbey GT. Are they generally lighter than a ton? Thanks!

:-) I'll have a look claire. We want it for Wales lol, think if we go in a tent it'll pee it down.

Romany if you are looking for the tonnage because of bridges etc. then don't forget to allow for the extra weight you put in when carrying holiday gear.

Hi Uzzi. We dont know if our car will pull a heavy van, hadnt thought about all the stuff we'll be putting in as extra! Think Im going to have to give that one a miss now, the seller wont answer any of my questions. We're looking at a Dethleff Rally now. xx

Lol Uzzi we might still bid on it, if we can find out the weight. If its more than a ton we cant have it. Its nice inside though. I want a caravan SOOO much, been outbid on every single one in the last week.

I think on googling the Abbey that it is over a ton (there are several Abbey GT's ) .

Edit to say are you sure that is your max weight for the car

If you can look at the van there will probably be a plate on the drawbar or near the door which gives some weight information.

:-) Thanks both. Hubby says thats the maximum weight for the car, we've got a Saab but never had a caravan before so dont know if he's right. Im watching about 6 caravans now, as long as its 4 or 5 berth and got no damp it'll do, hadnt realised the world and his wife would be bidding on them this summer.

Sorry Romany lost me net there,

OH reckons a Saab should pull more than a ton , what engine size is it ?

failing a caravan have you thought of a trailer tent.

edits to add caravans are now a cheap option for holidays

Kitty, I'll look at that now, hadnt heard of that site before, thanks. Uzzi havent a clue what size engine it is, all I know is its more than a 1.8. (I dont drive lol and dont know what Im talking about.) We have a 3 bedroomed tent but its sort of open at the bottom and therefore cold :-) so we're looking for a caravan with awning. Am watching two now, they end tomorrow so keeping fingers crossed, would be so happy to get one, just cant afford to spend a fortune. xx
