Moonchild, I so agree with you. Worse still, is when the top chefs put out a recipe which asks for the most unusual ingredients. They must think we all live in London, not that I am getting at Londoners, please |

Yes Marilyn, OH is going to look for some this afternoon. They were available fresh last week in Morrisons, because I bought one. It's just that I think they are dictating when and what we eat. They have control of so many things |

Sometimes they do a pack of winter veg Julie, and they keep it with the swedes carrots and onions on a top shelf.......it has carrots, a small swede and a turnip in.......good for when I do braising steak...... it usually costs between £1 and 1.50 depending on offers...... |

They'd rather ship in crate loads of unseasonal veggies and fruit, than encourage the British growers. Who says that because it is half way through May, that no-one wants to cook with turnips. Same as LWD says, she make Veg. soup, most weeks and can't get the ingredients. |

I think that must be just the bog standard reply to all customers who ask.......if they don't stock it, it's "seasonal"..... |

Oh just called in our local Tesco for a small turnip to put in Cornish Pasties to be made tomorrow. Don't have them he was told, it's a Winter Vegetable. Couple of weeks ago he went for a salad Box, and told It's not summer yet, despite them having Bar-B-Que things in since Christmas. I think their planners/buyers need to go back to the drawing board. |
