Hi Tinky... Unless the law has changed in the last couple of years... a child can leave home without parental consent at 16... but there are no benefits, and they'd have to work or go to college to support themselves etc. At 16 parental consent is required to get married. Parental responsibility is slightly different.... they have responsibility until aged 18, but if the child married at 16, I haven't a clue who has responsibility then!!

It is 16.

However if you are over 16 but under 18, then parents who are in disagreement can ask the court to make the child a ward of court, but this, apparently, is rare.

(Hence the possible confusion between 16 & 18)
