Yep, it probably will. But I bet it's not the Telegraph that publishes it, lol.

I'm struggling to understand what all the fuss is about, to be honest. It's nothing new, it's always happened, from the beginning of parliament. It's no different to any other organisation - take the lid off the trough and everyone will feed. Not that I'm condoning it, just surprised at the amount of people claiming to be shocked by it all.

It seems to me that the only time anyone ever takes any interest in their MP is when something like this happens. The average length of an MP's surgery in his or her constituency is about 10 minutes. No one ever goes to them. They are pretty much left alone to do as they please - it's public complacency to blame! People wait to be told things as opposed to asking themselves.

ANyone who has a mind to can ask to see anything related to the government, unless covered by a specific secrecy law. If you're interested in what MP's have claimed over the last 10 years, it's already in the public domain. I've seen it - just a case of looking.

:-)

Hi Eldrick :-)

I didn't think it was all in the public domain until the leak. For example where did they show what they claimed for ie the moats, trouser presses etc? I know there was an article on BBC website recently, where someone had been trying to obtain this information for a number of years.

Hi Eldrick.
While yes you are right about the expenses,,,,what was withheld was a detailed account where those *personal* expenses were/have been spent on,it wasnt avaliable till the Freedom of Information was passed ,which Mr Martin in his wisdom was opposed to as it also meant MPs came under it.!which entitled a detailed account as to where that money was spent, items bought........that is the crutch.....

The extra allowance was only brought in a few short years ago.

Office expenses has always been open,as is local councillers published.

Now MEPs are open to the same .as they claim but do not have to give a detailed account what or how the cash has been spent when they go to Brussels........!

Eldrick, it's fairly obvious to me what the fuss is about - most of us *didn't* know about all this. It's all very well blaming public apathy but most of us don't have time to go investigating things. I have enough to occupy my life and mind and don't have time to explore a lot of subjects that interest me and, rather unfortunately, rely on the media and other people to keep me informed. So, didn't know much about MPs' expenses. Do now. Hence the shock.

Hi Uggers:-)

you would think that a group of people who are responsible for running our country would not need such supervision **tuts** :-)

'We' (The Public) didn't know about it because it was private until the government shot itself in the foot with the Freedom of Information Act.
True this came in in 2000 - but it's taken a few years for the government to admit they are also ' Official Information'!!! LOL

Chances are, if Joe Bloggs had asked for this information they would have come up with some excuse to avoid giving it.

hi eldrick
The bottom end of the stick is, we would all do it if we were in that position if we were honest .
Evreybody loves money whether it be nickle and diming or on a huge scale .
the human race in general is greedy more begats more and i agree that that nobody would have a clue until it was made public.
