WE, that is the irish trollop and i, have been researching family history for a while now, but what has baffled us both is this
When we were clearing out mums house (she has Altzheimers and ws not safe to be left on her own) and is now in a home .
Anyway ! we found a scroll saying my father gave his life for his country in the war of !939 45.
but i was born in 1949, i have old photos of my father holding me as a baby.
The records confirm i was his child so nothing untoward there then
Army records in Glasgow want army numbers no record of them in the house (mum has'nt got a clue and can,t remember)
Would this scroll have been sent (as a result of injuries recieved .) even though he lived till 1953..this may seem cockeyed but really at a loss.

When I applied for my grandfathers army records from ww2 I didnt have to give his number.
Just his name and date of birth plus a photocopy of his death cert.

OOO err Igor - have you looked on the CWGC site to see if he's there?
My dad's 'dad' was killed in WWII - shame he's not on the birth certificate - dad's registered under his mum's maiden name - and then as a 'late entry' at the bottom of the page!! Dad's 'dad' was also married to someone else - not only when dad was born, but when he was killed!

Hi Igor.

I would suggest that you go to Rootschat site....register.

On the home page scroll down to Armed Forces & put a post on there.

There are a lot of clever people on there that will help & guide you.

Hope this will help you.

It is possible Igor that he was one of those missing presumed dead, only to be found alive after all.
