Dear Julie Ann

What a lovely thread.

Yes, I agree.

Welcome home to our armed forces.

Lets hope those who have been injuried in any way get the right support and help they deserve.

Best wishes to all

My brother in law was one of those marching but none of us could get to see him! But thanks to all the folks who cheered as they all marched past.

I am glad that in most places returning troops march through, they get a good response, even from younger folk - I went to applaud our lads when they marched through Norwich a while back and it brought me to tears to see them and see the response they got from everyone.

An excellent turnout, all of the schools were invited to send some kids as well, Chepstow Comprehensive did just that, my daughter being one of them, and the weather was good.

Best wishes to all serving soldiers, where-ever they may be.

I went to watch them march through the town as I'm home at the moment. There was an absolutely brilliant turnout, Chepstow was packed, I don 't think I've ever seen it so full.
The bunting was out, the weather stayed sunny, and the range of people who turned out went from babes in arms to elderly retired soldiers.
You could hardly walk down the pavement, it was packed both sides down the whole of the High Street and on down to the Castle. There were people hanging out of upper floor windows to wave and cheer, and I saw crowds of children from at least 3 local schools.
It must have been so encouraging for the Rifles to receive such a warm welcome home. The cheering was tremendous, it almost drowned out the band!
Well done the Rifles. Swift & Bold.

Julie, rest assured there were some handsome lads amongst them!!
