Hello Daff.........I hope your feeling well today .
As I was weeding my front garden yesterday I found potatoes growing in the back of the boarder.........lol........tiny white spuds , smaller than peas came up when I pulled them up.........it would take an awful lot of those to make a mouthful let alone a meals worth..........lol

Can't wait for the new ones on the lotty........it's like a treasure hunt when we dig them up..........lol

Hi Amanda... I feel brilliant, thank you, better than I have done for a long time... I still have to take it easy, but would do loads more if hubby didn't put the reins on me, lol... and I am safe with my sisters, as they are all nurses and fuss around me as well, lolol

I am going to let the little plants grow a bit more, I think... I am quite looking forward to eating them in a few weeks time!!

Love

Hi Daff

Shocked to hear A... still has no spuds!

When we were on holiday down in St. Davids we went past a garage that sold local Pembrokeshire spuds and they were lovely, so nice in fact we brought a bag home.

Take care and look after yourself, you have to be at the Meet! lol

Lol Harpstrings.... I'll be there, don't you worry!!

Morrisons only had a couple of bags... some new, some baking and some *budget* ones...... just a couple of bags of each.

I think Wales might be in the grip of a potato shortage!!! Now how shocking is that then?

Same as our local T***o. Is it our turn in Wales for a potato famine?

Or is it just "Bank Holiday" madness?.

Should I do a "spud run" over the border to Cheshire?. I could set up in competition with the bloke selling "baccy". lol

MrDaff Report 23 May 2009 23:12

pmsl Libby... I have visions of Welsh housewives crossing the border all svelte and stunning... and sneaking back into Wales looking like, well, a sack of spuds, lolol!! Body searches, frisking... armed border guards.... we could even end up with a *Severn Bridge Hilton* to rival that one.... is it the Shanghai Hilton?

I would perhaps understand it a little more at Christmas or Easter when people stockpile cos the shops will be shut (oh shock horror) for one whole day.... but the shops aren't shut!! No need to stockpile.... do you reckon the whole of Wales is eating nothing but potato salad, baked potato, chips, or mash this weekend? lolol!!

Border crossing doesn't worth thinking about. lol

As a matter of interest Daff..... any sign of the "heat wave" in your part of Wales? It's as lacking as the spuds here in the Conwy area. Sun, rain, hail and clouds all within the space of 30 minutes and it's blummin freezing!

I can do you a nice line in cardys to go with the spuds and baccy. lol

wmsl... now the cardy might be going a step too far, lol... we'd definitely be sussed out!!

It was dull here when I got up, but it has been beautiful since lunchtime... and quite mild. The temperature has dropped in the last half hour.... some areas might even get ground frost, it would seem!! And to think there was a thread saying we could cast our clouts now, lol!!

15 year old daughter has been asking me all week to put the central heating on at night, told her to put a jumper on..... hence the comment about cardys. No way will I put the heating on when it is nearly June. lol

Without being to ignorant or thick........ what the flaming heck is a "clout"?

MrDaff Report 23 May 2009 23:52

lol Libby... The old saying ne'er cast a clout til May is out (or words to that effect!)).... about a trillion different interpretations, lol.... I favour the one which reckons a clout is your thermal undies, lol!! So no-one really knows what a clout really is, lol!!

My heating is on tonight, but I do get cold easily recently.... this time last year I was always hot and sweaty, lolol Poor hubby is downstairs melting... even the cats are searching out the cool spots!!

I WAS IN ASDA YESTERDAY, AND AN ELDERLY MAN ASKED THE GIRL IF THEY HAD ANY JERSEY ROYALS. SHE REPLIED "IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE IT". HE THEN ASKED IF THERE WOULD BE ANY IN TOMORROW AND SHE SAID " I DON'T REALLY KNOW, COS I DON'T WORK IN THIS DEPARTMENT, I ONLY DO HOME SHOPPING"
I TURNED THE CORNER AND SAW A HUGE DISPLAY OF GUESS WHAT??

JERSEY ROYAL POTATOES.
REMIND ME NEVER TO DO A HOME SHOPPING AT ASDA!!! LOLOLOLOL
