Twilight Children by Torey Hayden. If you like true stories this is an account of her work as a child psychologist, with children with elective mutism and multiple personalities, very interesting and touching.

yes I,ve read a couple of these books

BUT please realise the only person really who has the rights to write these stories is the person involved in the story not the Psychologist.....who is bound by the privacy act !!!

my son is in training and is shocked at this writer.........giving out this info!!

I don't know if it makes a difference but it is set in the US and the names I am sure are not the true names.

I would imagine she had to get permission where necessary before writing anything and also names wouldn't be true. It would cost her far too much in compensation should she have disclosed anything .

I really dont disagree .....but I believe its down to the person themselves to tell thier story and as an abused child you have to "sort" your own head before telling people .....

I have read several of her books and I`m sure she doesn`t use real names

You may be right Kemp, but not all the children in that book were abused and the way she treated the children was very interesting. I suspect that the book was written quite a while after the event so maybe the children were old enough to allow her to write it on their behalf. Don't suppose we will ever know.

YES ANN. I READ IT LAST YEAR, AND FOUND IT VERY INTERESTING.
I DON'T NORMALLY LIKE BOOKS BY AMERICAN AUTHORS, BUT THIS WAS DIFFERENT.
