I bought a £700 large TV and the tube went after 3 years, I took the shop to the small claims court as the law states that "goods should be of merchantable quality" I argued that it's unreasonable for the tube to go completely in a 3 year old telly, the magistrate agreed with me and forced the shop to collect it from my home and either repair it or give me half my money back. They replaced the tube and delivered it back to me. |

Most purchases made in this country carry 1 year's guarantee - so we automatically think that's it when the item breaks down after this period. Not so - under European Union regulations all purchases carry a TWO YEAR GUARANTEE and it is legal in this country. Tesco customer forced the issue with an 18mth old tv which could not be repaired due to lack of parts. He knew his rights and after checking Tesco had to give him a new tv. |
