Believe it or not, fairly unusual here! Grass has been given a cut, and I planted 3 new Hostas, under the window.

Had a lovely day yesterday, so hot out there pruning, weeding and planting up more tubs. OH and son have been building steps underneath our French windows ...

Cass, my son's dog kept digging holes to Oz and back, we're now redesigning the garden. Tis amazing, plants I thought were gone forever seem somehow, and I have no idea how, to have survived. :)

Hello Gail.........I've been in the garden a bit today but managed to get the whole thing looking lovely over the weekend.
I love Hostas , I think I must have getting on for twenty different ones now. Hope your ones stay safe from the snails and slugs . Mine are all in pots , well of the ground and they are still getting the odd nibbled leaf : (

Amanda... I have had 2 in planters for around 6 years now. Irony was I didn't realise that they came back each year ( is perrenial the word).
We went to garden centre today, and I have planted 3 newbies, under the window.!! Didn't realise the number of varieties!

Shimms......... we have another thing in common. Asides from family and friendship, lol.

Hostas are quite popular I believe . I've had my "original" two for about ten years now , they are massive ! ( as it's raining at the moment I've been out on " snail patrol " and found a few on them.....grrrr.

I've not had much time to spend in the garden this weekend, only enough to realise my dreadful mistake, I grow veggies (small scale) on my top patio, have a small lawn and on the otherside a bottom patio where I've been planting to invite flutterbys and bees and such ............. Now have Cabbage White attacking my Broccoli!!!! So I covered with a net curtain last night till I get time to sort it out.

Lovely weekend weather wise though :)

I had a wonderful surprise today ... really though Cass had eaten and destroyed my Serotina Honeysuckle, one of my tasks ... sad as it was going to be, was to dig it up and throw it away.

Sad looking, almost strawlike ... looked at it today, then again and again ... walked over to it and oh my word ... on this sorry state of affairs are signs of new life. I am so happy, can't believe it's survived. O))

Sorry to hear about our broccoli Maddiecow, we use washing up liquid in our water, an old fashioned remedy from Nana, using the foam at the end to cover the plants/veggies. I try to have a natural garden as I want ladybirds to eat aphids, nature to feel welcome in my garden. Not sure if it will help you, so far it's worked for us. xxx

Hi Shim, may give it a try - I do my best to keep everything organic, I bought a book today 'The Gardeners wise words and country ways' which I hope will help me sort it all out by complementary planting.

Alice Ive been rescuing cats for for over 20 years and there is an organic, pet friendly slug killer on the market ..... unless of course your pets are slugs lol

Gotto go to bed now but look for the famer on the front and the blue cap, is available at most garden centres, you will also see a big tick for pets and kids and the organic sign....

Ive got four felines and they dont bat an eye at it.

It is not worth the grief to move Tom cat, as I have only popped on briefly.

I have loved reading all of your gardening stories. I only have an occasional snail to visit!

Snails ... had two visit the other day, found them whilst heavily pruning. Like you, I want my garden to be natural ... birds are visiting, butterflies too ... I am always on tenterhooks waiting for the first Ladybird to arrive. xxx
