we need a complete clearout of all MPs of whatever party and a complete set of iron clad rules which cannot be misinterpreted - fiddling seems to be endemic in the Houses of Parliament, they all seem to be "at it" in one way or another

I disagree Ann, there are some honourable MPs out there, who are there for the politics and the constituents. Admittedly too few.

ChrisofWessex Report 26 May 2009 23:36

Agree with Ann - there have been dire warnings about having an election soon, from the Archbishops to call off the McCarthy hunt. Are we to suddenly stop and say it is OK for you to stay in your nice job and rip the guts out of our country with fraudulent and excessive claims?

Our hospitals need medical staff, our sick need drugs, our troops need correct kit to fight the war you sent them to , we need more policemen, we need schools - do I really need to carry on?

As Paxman said tonight to the politicans = 'you still don't get it do you'? They do not realise the country is angry very angry - we have to go without, lose our jobs, our homes, our savings and struggle whilst the fat cats everywhere get fatter.

I still wait to see the headline ' Government brought down by bath plug' and for me the plug started it.

Chris, I mostly agree with you. However, I do believe there are a handful of honest mps there. I don't think we should punish them when they had no idea and were doing their job satisfactorily.

I do have a thread - is your MP a saint - there are honest ones out there and some who have not abused the system but at the moment let us concentrate on getting rid of the chaff - then we can begin to see daylight.

in our local newspaper this morning - one Welsh MP put an advert in the S Wales Echo wishing his constituents a Happy Christmas last year and then claimed for it on his expenses, so in effect the recipients of his good wishes paid for the advert!!!

I have no idea who my local EU MP is and anyway for the first time in my life I shall not be voting and can't wait for someone to come knocking canvassing - they will be very sorry they called at my house

I know I should vote and have always been of the opinion that people should be fined if they don't vote, but quite frankly, I would be willing to pay a fine for not not voting

~`*`Jude`*`~ Report 27 May 2009 12:42

Yep l agree with you too Lightening.
l feel like Ann GG and not vote, l really do not want anyone in, if anyone at all l would vote for the Green Party. l don't like the EU, since that was started up we have so many stupid rules and regulations,.
My poor b.i.l. has been made redundant at the age of 64yrs,he's getting more and more depressed, doing all that the job centre has asked of him. His private pensions are almost worthless, he's thinking of going on a course in the hope he can become self employed, he's a very clever man, very technically skilled can make instruments and parts for machines, but no one wants him. He stutters aswell which does'nt help as he's not got alot of confidence.
And those fat cats with plumbs in theirs mouths that are so big you can't understand what some of they say are sitting back enjoying what they have taken from us. Its a disgrace and they should all be brought to justice as we would if we did the same.

Perhaps those of us that may not/will not vote ought to tear the voting card up and send it to the Prime Minister, with a note saying "we really do not believe in the any governments anymore, right or wrong this is a protest"
or words to that effect.

Had my rant, off to have some lunch...:o))

I really do believe that there should be a "None of the above" box on the ballot paper and that voting should be compulsory.

And a lot more independent candidates, not just the usual party lobby-fodder.

What really annoys me, and my blood pressure must be up, when I think about it is-

This money could have been spent on the NHS, better Equipment for our Troops,.and lots and lots of other things.

I see Ricky Tomlinson is speaking for Labour Socialists, and seeing that Arthur Scargill is the head, this is nothing but the Communists under another name.

They all need a dose of castor oil for what we used to say A b....y good clear out.

Jean (Monmouth) Report 27 May 2009 19:59

I too would like a line, none of the above on my ballot paper. And maybe a question as to who we would prefer who is not on there.

"Any form of Government is good when the ruling power seeks the good of all rather than its own profits". {Will Durant}.

At the moment, I'm clueless as to who I should vote for.

ChrisofWessex

ChrisofWessex Report 27 May 2009 23:14

I know who are standing in the local elections - we are inundated - by the paperwork we have two! As to MEP do not know who is standing or what choice I have? All I know is I never wished to be an European.
