sometimes you just have to sit back and wait for "what goes round comes round" but it does eventually, even if it takes years
My dear old Mum was cruelly physically and mentally abused by an elder sister of hers - we didnlt realise it was happening cos Mum was afraid to say, but when we found out we quickly moved Mum away from her, but the rest of the family didnlt believe us = anyway, time went on and the cruel sister enjoyed her life and carried on this charade of being hard done by and misunderstood and then one morning she woke up and found she couldnlt walk - she was paralysed from the waist down. She never walked again and ended up in a nursing home, all her money which she gloated about went on expenses, and she was left to the mercy of others, just as my mother had been left to her mercy - God does move in mysterious ways!!! I never wished any of this on my aunt, I just waited for retribution to happen and it did

Hello again; thank you all for your posts, not to mention support. I'm so sorry (not to mention angry) at the stories some of you have told; you have my sympathy!
This particular boy has been trouble for several years now, and his poor mother despairs of him. He used to be a nice lad, but since he and our adopted son started mixing with another local boy (who's well-known to the police), he's been evil, and always looks at us as if we're a bad smell. *sniffs armpits*
We popped in to see our friends this evening, and G was quite down, although she tried to be upbeat about it. I was heartened to hear your story Julia - that proves it, eh!
Yes, we're popping into town tomorrow so will have a look in the local jewellers, especially the one that buys "second-hand gold".
Thank you all again; night night folks, see you tomorrow. x

Oh dear Shirley, I wish someone had called the police!
The ring was still stolen property, and still belonged to its original rightful owner, no matter how many people had bought and sold it since then.
She could have got it back. Her explanation of what the ring was, and the description by the person who made it of how he did it, would have been perfectly credible.
The person who bought it from the store could have got the money back from the store. If the store had a new owner, he/she took on the debts of the old owner when the store was sold, or the new owner could have claimed against the old owner.
None of that is the rightful ring owner's problem. It was stolen from her, and it was stolen property forever after that until she got it back. If there's any chance of her tracking it down, and it means a lot to her, she could always give it a go!
Oh -- I definitely agree with you about checking local pawn shops. I have in fact found a stolen item there once myself.

Hi Glenys What Lowlife . Have you got a Cash Convertor store near you as they might try and sell it there. Our daughter had a ring handmade from other rings from her prevoius marriage,my BIL is a diamond cutter & setter and he melted down the gold etc and made her a lovely dress ring from it all It got stolen at work and she was gutted BUT some years later she saw a patient wearing HER ring and she asked where it had come from ,turned out it had been bought at the local Cash Convertors by the ladies husband as an anniversary present ,Girl quite rightly said it was hers and she wasnt going to give it back. Our daughter went to the shop but they denied all responsibilty almost implied SHE was trying it on . She asked if they asked for proof the articles they were buying belonged to the seller but they said wasnt their responsibilty. She didnt take it further as it wasnt the new owners fault. It may be worth while allerting local jewellers or such cash buying shops

Yes, I too believe in this, and so did my mother. Here's a tale for you. When only a lass and in my first job, I worked in the offices of a well known stocking manufacturer, in these parts. I was in the Accounts Office, which had two immediate bosses. Both had to agree on a person's yearly rise, before it was sent to the ultimate head, for sanction. Well, the time of the year came around, and one immediate boss agreed with my rise, and the other didn't. It was only 10 shillings, but I did not get it. When I went home for my lunch and told my mother I hadn't got it, she used the same phrase " 'what goes around, comes around' , you see our Julia". Within six months, the company apartment the refusing accountant lived in was burned down, and soon after he was involved in a car accident. No one was hurt in either incident, thank goodness, but I thought my mother had put a gypsies curse on him Memories, memories, that a phrase or saying can bring things to your mind. Glenys, I hope your friend gets her justice, and gets her precious locket back, and this scum gets his just deserts. Julia in Derbyshire

'Zactly the same thing happened to me 20ish years ago.
House broken into, we were away for the wknd, scum sat and went through my jewelery drawer. It's not like I have gems. Took my great-aunt's silver locket with the childhood photo of my boy cousin and lock of his hair. Auntie Dud was an unfortunate fatherless child whose stepfather ignored her, and lived a lonely life except for her nieces and nephews, and then the 4 of us great-nieces and -nephews born before she died. All of whom she doted on, but especially my boy cousin, probably because he too was the unfavoured child.
I guess they might have got 5 bucks for it. I hope they ODed on whatever it bought them.

My sympathies, perhaps it uses the money raised for drugs and overdoses.

I don't believe in revenge, but I do believe in "what goes around, comes around". So I'm just going to sit back, and wait for a certain local lowlife to get his comeuppance. Last week, he stole a very precious locket from a friend; in it was the photo of G's daughter who was killed several years ago. This means nothing to this scum, apart from any monetary value. So - in time, I hope he gets what he deserves, with interest! Will be off in a min., so see yous later. x
