A 'baby' starling begging its parent for food just outside my window - good grief, it's bigger than the adult!!

You feel sorry for the parents flying back and forward feeding them.
Bit like us running back and forward to the supermarket and the table really lol

:0) It's a while now, but I remember how the fridge/cupboards used to empty!

We've got an old coal-bunker, on which I scatter a load of food & this particular baby starling just keeps following the parent around, screeching at it! It could easily peck at it itself, but is too lazy!

I've been watching the same scene with Starlings in our garden Angela.

The parent picked the biggest piece of bread and was literally 'shoving' it down the throat of it's chick lol it's a wonder it didn't choke to death! ...chick then followed the adult all over the lawn (with bread still stuck in gob!!) was soo funny to watch.

Mau

The other day, the parent seemed to be stuffing as much in the youngsters mouth as it could, just to shut it up! I could watch them for hours - so entertaining.

Please make sure bread is thoroughly soaked before putting on bird table etc.

Today we had the second batch of blue tit fledgings - they were testing their wings flying from the tree onto the bird table and back (about 4' away).

Next door had new bathroom fitted about 4 years ago - builder never filled in some pipe holes and we have watched each year tits nesting in there!

Haven't told neighbours in case they fill them in.

You are very lucky to see the fledglings leave - early morning or early afternoon seems to be the time. We only know if all goes silent in the boxes.

Dear All

You are so lucky to be able to feed the wildlife.

In our district for all the local parks, etc, it has been banned.

Yet for donkeys years, all the kids and adults used to feed the birds.
It was like a tradition.

Best wishes
xx
