With all the MP's that are not standing in the next Election, the thought came into my head, is it because they will not have a job where they can fiddle as much?
Or are they going into another job where they will be able to fiddle?
Should think anyone who employs them, will have to keep a tight reign on the expenses.

Deafening silence surrounding Tony Blair's expenses - or, have I missed it?

Dermot the years which would have come under scrutiny - when Tony stood down as MP - unfortunately and completely accidentally all those papers were inadvertently shredded - so the news was some weeks ago!!!

Surely there is a record somewhere of Tony Blair's expenses!
If his own files were shredded what about the tax man? They went mad buying properties.Bet they didn't spend all their own money on them!
What amazes me about all these MPs is that they can't see that they have commited fraud.

One story on the news tonight was of a woman who put down the wrong address to get her child into the school she preferred. It's a court case and she could be heavily fined or even a prison sentence if found guilty.
Which "crime" seems worse to us???

How can you make the "mistake" of not knowing your mortgage was paid off, and still claim thousands??? I think "mistake" should be substituted for the word "embezzlement". In any other employment you would have been sacked immediately, and forfeited all rights to a pension - probably prosecuted as well.

If they cannot manage their own finances, how on earth do we have confidence in them ruling this country?

It looks like asking a fox to look after the chicken pen.

Wish I could use public money to add servant's quarters to my house........
Somehow, I don't think the council would approve.............

I had a little bit of money, not a lot, in a National Savings Account, my parents had put a little away, from when I was born, when they could afford it.

I had a letter from the Tax people, telling me I had to pay tax on it. To tell the truth I had forgotten all about this account, Think it was only a matter of about £200, but the Tax people had been going through peoples accounts. So I took it out and spent it. . This was in 1986

Back to Tony and Cherie Blair , if this was us ordinary folks, the Tax people would tell us they were assessing what we owed, over so many years. As for the accounts being shredded, what a load of bunkham,

Seems we have a load of Spivs running this country, with double accounting. ie two lots of accounts books.
