HI
I have just bought Family tree maker Platinum edition with a free 6 month sub to ancestry.
Problem is when i try to register it, to enable me then to activate the sub it comes up with an error message saying no internet connection!

I do have a internet connection and it is working fine, any one have any ideas?
thanks

FTM have their own forum monitored by resident experts, you have to register but it's free, a bit like GR really, you can find the forum here.

Hi there,

I had a similar problem. I use AOL as my ISP and it was their server which was blocking access. I went on line using Internet Explorer and everything was fine. Once registered FTM worked fine via AOL, well except for the fact that the latest version is typicaly American in that it firmly believes that the USA is the centre of the unverse and no matter what town or village you type in as a place of birth etc it refers you back to the 'are you sure about this location' part of the program telling you that 'surley you mean London in the USA rather than London England????'

I have found the program total pooh and have gone back to the 2006 version which has all the internet parts of the latest version and none of the disadvantages. It works just fine.

Good luck
Lord Martyn

I know I am deviating, but......
I am having the same problem with a ViaVoice I had for my birthday.
I have it all ready to use, it the computer wants the 'registration number', when I give it it is not recognised.

Perhaps there is a message here.... we should 'scrap' them and buy another???

NOT a chance.

I have Family Tree Maker.
My query is
I am already subscribed to Ancestry. Would my 3 month subscription include the records for the whole of Ancestry or just the basic records.
I can access some of the names on FTM but other times records come up with the lock and it then tells me to subscribe.
Thank you for any help,
Sue
