‘If you've ever met a child with fetal alcohol syndrome, you might revise your views on what's a tragedy and what isn't.’?

For the record I have worked with children & babies for 40yrs, have cared for children with all kinds of life threatening syndromes/ illnesses & seen families torn apart because of it.

Yes it is tragic, but arguments on a GR thread are not going to help these little ones or a pregnant woman who will now worry & (raise her blood pressure), till her baby is born, because she has had a glass of wine.

Before anyone else judges me & what I think of as tragic... please ask yourselves ... “Do I know what it is like to go to my Childs/Grandchild’s funeral?”

I am now going to my bed as work tomorrow.

What rude noise, Carol.

If you've ever met a child with fetal alcohol syndrome, you might revise your views on what's a tragedy and what isn't.

Not that anyone said anything else being discussed was a tragedy, as has been pointed out.

I simply never understand this need to make one's point / pat one's self on the back by bashing someone / something else ...

Hi Caz ... to know that you will never see your loved ones again is bad enough without also knowing that you will never know what happened to them

You do not seem to think I know that Mildred, but then I am just words on a screen to you.

When you have had true tragedy in your life little things tend to lessen in importance

I dont think or one moment people are saying todays arguments on here are tragedies

Tragedies happen all the time, every day carol.

People die every day

But the rest of life moves on, along with the important bits, and the less important bits.

And that includes laughter, sadness, anger and arguments which although dont seem important to some, feel important to others who may or may not want to have their say without being made to feel guilty because xxx amount of people have died for whatever reason..

It's awful - it sounds like the series Lost ................ how can a plane just disappear, I hope for the sake of the families that they find it

How awful.

Most accidents seem to be on taking off and landing. To crash in the middle of a flight just shows it can happen at any time..

God Bless all of them and their friends and families

This is a tragedy ... not who Betty was... or whether you should have an odd drink whilst pregnant

It's almost certain now that 228 people have died in what seems to be a mysterious plane crash. An Air France Airbus was flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, suddenly there was radio silence and nothing was heard from the pilot or the plane after that.

If it is confirmed that all 228 people were killed it would be the worst loss of life in Air France's history and civil aviation's worst accidental disaster for more than a decade
