Sometimes, just pressing F5 will refresh the page and sort it out for you.

If the tree still won't load then clear out your internet temp files, restart your browser and try again.

Some members have increased the amount of space allocated to their temp files and this has solved the problem for them.

Lorraine,

Assuming you are using internet Explorer (I am going from version 8 - if you have an earlier version then the instructions may be slightly different but the principles are the same)

Click on Tools, then Internet Options and select the General Tab. Near the middle of the page you will see a button which will allow you to delete temporary files etc. Follow the prompts. You might wish to keep saved passwords and cookies, for now.

To increase the amount of space allocated, click the settings button, and increase the space allocated.I use the max of 1024 MB

To re-start just close IE re-open and log back in to GR

Which version of Internet Explorer do you have?

I have to go out for a few hours but try your tree again anyway, you might get away without having to allocate more space.

Lorraine,

I am not familiar with AOL's browser, as I use Firefox and Internet Explorer on my pc.

However with a bit of googling, here is what you need to do to clear out your temp files.

To clear the AOL Web page storage cache using AOL 9.0 Optimized:
1. On the AOL toolbar, click the Settings icon.
2. Click the Index tab.
3. Click the Internet [Web] Options link.
4. In the Related Settings section, click the Internet Explorer Settings link.
5. In the Internet Options window, click the AOL Browser tab.
6. Click the Clear Storage button.
7. Click the Yes button.
8. Click the OK button.
9. Click the X button in the upper right.

In theory, this should work as it is.

You shouldn't need to change the size of your virtual memory, unless you are getting out of memory messages. This is normally set to 1.5 times the size of your PC's physical memory.

What I was referring to was increasing the amount of space alloocated to storing your temp internet files. This is different to Virtual Memory. At the moment I don't know how you do this with AOL - try looking under Offline Storage in the help section, perhaps

Hi All

My tree has gone for good, hundreds of names. GR told me a gedcom I uploaded on the 21st '"over rode all the other members on the tree and it is a pity I didn't see the warning" " There is nothing they can do"

I had uploaded a gedcom, my tree was fine afterwards, I had an email notice from GR to say it was successfuly uploaded, all was fine, it was days afterwards that my tree disappeared! What is more the gedcom I uploaded is not there either, if the gedcom had over- ridden everything else, why isn't the gedcom there??

Two names I added after the gedcom, on a later day, with my tree still there are the only two names left.

I can't help but think the gedcom is unrelated and that it has something to do with GR.
