There has been quite a lot of this around here this year and I am told it is an insect which is causing the problem. Privet is very hard to kill. |

Sorry it is a privet hedge and I will give it a feed but it has never gone like this before , looks as though its had a dose of weed killer |

Hi Margaret, the others are right, we can't help unless we know what kind of shrub it is. If one of the cyprus family you may have cut too much off and killed it. but if Privet or Beech very hard to do any lasting damage, let us know so we can be of more help, Nina |

What kind of hedge is it Margaret? Daff has a good suggestion and I would think even if the leaves go it may still sprout so I wouldn't give up on it for a few weeks. |

Hello Margaret.... I'm no expert... but have you given it a bit of a feed recently? I would *ruffle up* the soil at the base, then add some compost or similar, and a dose of plant feed... I'd even use Baby Bio if I didn't have anything else to hand, lol.... well, it's made for house plants, which are mainly foiliage, lol!! |

Thank you yes the hedge has been there 24 years no our area has not had a lot of rain so it might be drought I will give it time and see what happens. I was going to ask my son to dig it on Friday |

In my front garden I have a hedge which I have cut once this year and this morning I looked at it and I can't beleive I have not noticed it before but the leaves have all gone brown the wood looks dead and they are just falling off. Anyone got any ideas as to what has happened to it thank you |
