That was brilliant.

I definitely going to frame it.

Hi Ingrid

Really enjoyed your post.. It is so very true and although I haven't a dog at the moment, I can still remember very well. Hope you don't mind but I have passed this on to my friend who has a dog who really falls into the criteria you list. She says she has read it to her dog who just looked at her very innocently and as though she was stupid. I'm sure you can imagine the expression!

Thanks a lot.

I'm very tempted to frame that and put it up where a couple of people I know will see it. I have noticed them inspect a chair before sitting!

My cat is spoiled - and why not. I don't know what loneliness is with her around.

Hi Elizabeth
Glad you and all our animal lovers liked it.
I take it from your 'Ahem' that the weather is not warming very quickly for you. My Niece is in London.

Thanks Alison for replying I missed Elizabeth by 10mins. Have not been to well and had gone back to bed have just risen again.

Its been cold here on the east coast and as Alison says wet wet wet.
I like the winter you can rug up but don't like it when my head is full of cold.
Drugs are helping so should be back on track soon.

Cheers

Alison

Hello Elizabeth,

I thought I'd answer the question about winter since I'm here and Ingrid might not be - yes, it's winter in OZ. Technically anyway, winter starts June 1st. Sometimes I wonder why because it's not always cold enough in June to be winter. Still lots of rain though.

Also thanks for the birthday greeting for my daughter!

Dear Ingrid in Oz

Hello,

I loved the contents of your post.

In our family, we have kept budgies since I was 14.

Each little pet was a joyous piece of life, with their own character
and moods too!

Is it winter now in Australia?

We are supposed to be going into summer. Ahem!

Take care.

Best wishes to you.
From GR Member, England.

Dogs have owners, Cats have Staff.

Thanks Annina you don't have to evict the cats I am sure we will get on fine.

Know the feeling Red Squirrel, my cats are always sleeping in the shelves, drawers where ever is left open.

My Dog has a feather bed. He actually has 2 so when one is getting washed he has the other.

I disagree with no 8:

(8) don't want to wear your clothes,

My cat thinks my cardigan is his bed.

Hi Ingrid , if you ever come over here to sunny Sheffield there is a spare bedroom with your name on it , mind you I will have to evict the cats to make room for you.Lots of from a fellow animal lover, Nina

I am going to show this to my dog and four cats, I really hope they take more notice by reading this than they do when I tell them.

Maybe I will make them all read it 10 times a day and it will sink in.

The following was found posted very low on a refrigerator door.

Dear Dogs and Cats: The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine/feline attendance is not required.

The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first! , then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough.

Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:

TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS:

(1) They live here. You don't.
(2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That's why they call it 'fur'-niture.
(3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
(4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly.

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they
(1) eat less,
(2) don't ask for money all the time,
(3) are easier to train,
(4) normally come when called,
(5) never ask to drive the car,
(6) don't hang out with drug-using people;
(7) don't smoke or drink,
(8) don't want to wear your clothes,
(9) don't have to buy the latest fashions,
(10) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and
(11) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children
