Hi BrinsleyS and Barry,

Thank you both for your replies. I am thinking of asking GR today to see if they can find my past tree under a past password. If not ( and I don't like my chances ) then I have nothing to lose I might as well try uploading another gedcom.

You are more than welcome to have a look at my tree I will message my password again to you.

I am becoming resigned to re-doing the tree

Barry, I don't know how the tree can be restored by anyone but GR, though I'm not at all computer tech minded. Thank you for your kind offer. I will try GR one more time and ask re an old password restoration.

I can't find the gedcom I uploaded as yet, but still looking

With much apppreciation for your help

Lavenda

Hi Lavenda
I'm no expert on computer"technicals",but would it be possible to do a "Restore" on what you've lost? I'm not certain exactly how to do this, but I could contact a compuite wizz mate if need be.

I really dont know. It does point to a blip at GR, though, especially if you are certain the details did manage to upload.

What I was going to suggest, if your tree looks ok when I check it, then try another upload and see if that works.

Hi BrinsleyS

Thanks for your interest, I will try and find the gedcom.

Why do you think the gedcom is no longer there either?

I don't understand why my tree was still fine afterwards with the gedcom there &loaded and then disappeared a few days later.

Hi Lavenda,

Thanks for forwarding the various messages from GR. From what I am seeing it appears that the gedcom load was not sucessful, despite the positive confirmation. Unfortunately, as you have found out, part of the process of uploading a new file automatically clears all your previous data first.

Do you still have a copy of the gedcom file you processed on the 21st? If so could you email me a copy and I'll check it looks ok in my FTM program.

Hi All

Some of you asked me to let you know the outcome of my missing tree, sorry I posted the outcome on the wrong thread, so here goes for those who missed it.

My tree has gone for good, hundreds of names. GR told me a gedcom I uploaded on the 21st '"over rode all the other members on the tree and it is a pity I didn't see the warning" " There is nothing they can do"

I had uploaded a gedcom, my tree was fine afterwards, I had an email notice from GR to say it was successfuly uploaded, all was fine, it was days afterwards that my tree disappeared! What is more the gedcom I uploaded is not there either, if the gedcom had over- ridden everything else, why isn't the gedcom there??

Two names I added after the gedcom, on a later day, with my tree still there are the only two names left.

I can't help but think the gedcom is unrelated and that it has something to do with GR.
