When I visited the chocolate factory in Wales, they told us that chocolate lasts ages longer than the dates on the packets, it might get a bloom but is ok to eat.

Chocolate that starts going white has usually been exposed to a heat source, it should be ok still tho!

Dear All

Hello Rosalyn

If you are in a hurry, then you sometimes forget to look at the
best before and use by dates:

I picked up two bags of flour that was out of date in early April.

Yes, it is a offence and an environmental health officer would take action against store selling past sell by date goods.

Best wishes to all

It is illegal to sell out of date goods, they should have been removed from sale. In the shop I work in we sell some convenience goods, anything wtihin 7 days of their sell by date is reduced by 50% and marked accordingly.

Having said that my daughter is eating Weetabix dated the end of Feb, found at the back of my kitchen cupboard!!

They will do you no harm, the flavour just seems to go.

Use before date. Can't be sold after that date. Best before you may sell after that date. Well that's the rule over here.

Just ask yourself as you are eating them...... Many years ago before use by dates how would I know that it was safe to eat these. Looks OK, smells OK, tastes OK and before you know it the pack will be empty.

I would return anything recently bought, which I found to be out of date.
If I found it at home tucked away in a cupboard, I would probably eat out of date biscuits, unless they actually tasted stale, but that would be my option and I'd expect to buy them well within their sell-by date.

just because they are a bit out of date doesn't mean that they are inedible......is it a best before date?

or do NOT consume after 26 april?

Bob

( I put stuff in my freezer on day of purchase, and is well out of date before I get round to thawing it out!!)

I would contact Cadburys - I saw some boxed sweets "buy one get one free" that were out of date. I thought this was illegal????
