Ros I've been transcribing for familysearch and they ask that you write exactly what was written in abreviation form ie. Jos, Wm Jno etc.

Got to agree with Ann.

If you are doing transcribing then you must put exactly what is shown on the original document.

But if you are transcribing Ros shouldn't you just put what the enumerator put? In case you guess wrong.

Yes Jno stands for John.

I'm not certain about Jos. Could be Joseph or could be Joshua or Josiah.

UPDATE - have a look at this page (it gives lots of abbreviations for names):-

Apparently Jos. is for Joseph.

is it John -I`m doing transcribing and these ennumerators make up abbreviations.Is JOS -JOSEPH?
