Did she live anywhere near the Woolwich Arsenal, Uggers.....?

The Royal Arsenal was at Woolwich and I think there was one at Highbury, where Arsenal play.....

It was indeed making cartridges in the firearms industry. When she got old she looked like she would fire them too....

Sue I have got an old occupations site somewhere in my favourites but I've had a good old whack with the dopey stick this week. Hang on.

Uggers why don't you google "old occupations" - I think there are a couple of sites that may be able to give you info. I would've thought guns.

Uggers, i would have thought guns. Surely the pen cartidge did not come about until the 60/70's. Women were employed in some strange professions in those days. Just my opinion, of course.
Hope it warms up for you in your sarf part of the country

Have found my great grandmother described as a cartridge maker on her entry into the workhouse in 1902. Would that be guns or pens or something entirely different?
