Joyce, those words are lovely and heartfelt, I know your Dad will hear them if your say them out loud to him.

My Dad wasn't demonstrative at all but a few little things he did for me showed how much he cared really and I remember them sometimes and get tearful. As he was dying in the hospice, he told my Mum he loved us all, such a shame he could never say it to us and in turn we weren't encouraged to say it to Mum or Dad.

I know how much love he got and gave to my son tho who was his world in the last 6 years of his life and feel glad I managed to give him that joy and pleasure, just wish he had been around longer to spend more time with my lad. My son and I say 'love you' at the end of every phone call and visit.

I feel much closer to him now I am doing his side of the family tree and hope he is noting all I am finding out and the contacts I am making and renewing with people from the family.

Treasure your favourite memories of your dad, they are so special. Your lucky in away as my dad was useless. No real happy memories of him. Not that it makes it any easier for you.

Hi Tinkerbell,yes i did write that for my Dad he was my world mum never wanted me she wanted son,ands only now i relize what she went thru,but i found my Dad lying on the floor so i ask afriend next door if she would stay with him as i went to ring amberlance,as my mum had gone to get work,but it was too later only lived acouple hours .and he have gone i was just going on 14yrs old and only child,but i still miss him and i dont have any photos of him or my mum,my first husband burned them old when i left him,

Thinking of you today

Joyce that is so lovely, it brought tears to my eyes too remembering my lovely dad. I am sure both mum and dad are still with me though.

it only seems like yesterday when you use to hold my hand
but why did you have leave Us i did,nt realy understand
i can never forget when i found you dying on the floor
but then God came and took you and gentle shut the door
My life was so empty as i was just coming up to 14
and there was this big hole were my loverly dad had been
its been 55yrs since you pass away
but i think of you every single day
