I know it is a lovely lazy Sunday afternnon, and everyone is giving their brains a rest, but, does anyone know if there was any fatal epidemincs going around the Little Bytham area of south Lincolnshire around the years 1711/ish.
Many, many thanks to whoever can help, or point me in the right direction to find out.

Hi Julia,
There was a Bubonic Plague in Europe about that time. I believe it killed in the region of Half a million people. xx

Thanks to you both for your suggestions. Will certainly get in touch with the Lincoln Records as soon as. I am theorising, or as some might say, clutching at straws, in a proces of elimination. I have an ancestor who turned up in Eye, Northants, during the early 1700's, a landowner, but alot of records for this time have been destroyed, and I am finding it hard to get any further. I have found a person of the same name in Carlby, Lincs, not a million miles from Eye,who married in Little Bytham, and had three children. I was just wondering if the family, with the exception of himself, had perhaps died, and he went a few miles down the road to Eye, and re-invented himself, so to speak. It is just a pity that the records for the same period of time in Eye, did not survive.
Again, many,many thanks

Well I still don't understand what GG Grandmother and father were doing up there at the time tbh !!! One came from Huntingdonshire and the other from Hertfordshire.... ...but it's my Smith line.*groans* so I'm still unravelling all the threads of Smiths as I think it was where my GGG Grandfather came from originally. But.....with a surname like Smith it's very difficult to prove lol xx

Sorry Muffy can't help you with the Smith surname. The one I am looking for is Turner, and there was plenty of them around that area at the time

Thanks Muffy, I'll let you know. Off to cook tea now - Sirloin Steak, Mushrooms, Salad and Saute Potatoes. Making me feel hungry just typing it. Steak is from a farm shop we are trying out. Would you believe it is only a couple of miles from where Iwe live, and I did not know it existed.
By for now
