BRITISH DEATH FROM SWINE FLU (UPDATE)

Seems if you are older and in reasonable health you should have some immunity, it is younger folk and those with asthma and other illnesses including heart problems and pregnancy that can put you more at risk.

Little Jack was born 11 weeks early presumably while his mother was ill or maybe after she had died, and it's so sad for his family that they have lost him as well as his Mum. May both of them rest in peace and their family find lots of support and love as they cope with their loss.

WE HAD OUR FIRST CASES BEFOR ENGLAND AND WALES, AND ACCORDING TO THE HEALTH MINISTER, IT IS NO WORSE HERE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE.
MUST ADMIT, I'VE NOT HEARD OF A CASE IN IRELAND.

I did hear yesterday that it was a man that had lost his life to the flu,
To-day they said that it was a woman that had a premature baby 2 weeks ago, my Condolences to her partner and children and extended family. R.I.P.
Strangely here in Ireland (Republic of)we have only one reported case, another cover up?.I wonder.
Bless,
Lily.

I think it is officially a reportable illness so you must contact your GP if you think you have it. You might get over it in the first instance but if the second wave hits the virus might then have mutated and will be much worse.

Catching it once will not give you immunity if it does mutate.

I know someone who has had swine flu. She and hubby had what seemed like a heavy cold; their two children had coughs with theirs, and the grandparents did not have it at all in spite of being with them all the time on their trip overseas.

From what I have learned and read, it seems that it may not be a problem if checked in the early stages, but if allowed to go untreated, can not only be passed around to others, but can be as bad as being fatal - so the message here that I get is - 'Don't dismiss the symptoms, no matter how slight. Seek medical assistance in the early stages - don't wait to see if it gets worse'.

I ONLY PUT THIS ON TO LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS POOR SOUL.

IT IS NOW A PANDEMIC, AND FEEL THAT PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW, SO YOU WILL NOT BE DELETING DAFF.

The post has been deleted, Vods, I have pm'd the person... it isn't the first time that she has made this comment, with the ASIAN in capitals... and as half of my nieces and nephews have Asian backgrounds, well, I took a little bit of offence at the comment. It felt like they were being held responsible!

DAFF. JUST SEEN THIS. I AGREE.
WHO MENTIONED ASIAN??

IF IT IS THE SAME PERSON WHO WAS MENTIONED A FEW WEEKS AGO, I UNDERSTAND IT TO BE A MAN, BUT DON'T KNOW HIS ETHNIC ORIGIN, BUT WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?

Doesn't matter whether he is Asian, white, or purple with pink spots.... it is still very sad, and yes, I know he has had underlying health problems.

My condolences to his family and loved ones.
