A devastating situation for both families and I hope now procedures will be more carefully carried out with lots of checks and double checks first.
It isn't the first time mistakes similar to this have been made but I hope lessons are learned and no one else has to go through such heartache.
I just read that the couple plan to have another try in a couple of years when they have come to terms with it a bit, but by then their first child will be so much older so the children won't be so close in age.

Annie G, easy to say that but if you are desperate for a child you will do whatever it takes, nature can be very unkind.

I seem to recall that it used to be the fault of the computer, when things went wrong........... true up to a point , until you realise that HUMANS put the data into the computer in the first place, and while we ARE human, there WILL be mistakes........

very sad for the people concerned....

A POOR COUPLE IN WALES LOST THEIR LAST CHANCE TO HAVE ANOTHER BABY BY IVF AFTER A TRAINEE MIXED UP THE EMBRYOS, AND IT WAS IMPLANTED IN THE WRONG WOMAN, WHO WENT ON TO TERMINATE THE PREGNANCY WHEN THE MISTAKE WAS DISCOVERED.

SO SAD FOR THE COUPLE INVOLVED, BUT ALSO FOR THE OTHER WOMAN WHO HAD TO MAKE WHAT MUST HAVE BEEN A VERY HARD DECISION.

APPARENTLY IT WAS 'AN ACCIDENT' WAITING TO HAPPEN!!!!
