Having a look at my forgotten tree on another site!?, I found that someone else, had the same names and dates as myself.

Could this be another case of someone claiming peeps for their tree, that are not theirs?

I sent off a PM a couple of days ago, and thought nothing of it. I came in from work today to a reply ...from a chap in Australia!

It turns out that my gran was the sister of his grandfather. My dad and his brother used to take his mum to football matches!

As I was reading his reply, names started to fall into place!

Just wanted to share my new branch with you all!

Good for you!!!
Isn't it great when something like this happens.

It makes all the blood, sweat and tears, and the years of hard work we've spent, tracing our relatives, totally worthwhile.

Just a year or so ago I also took a chance and contacted someone I thought MAY be connected. Turned out his grandmother was my g.grandfather's sister. We exchanged stories and details, and then he put me in touch with his 1st cousin, who helped me out with more details because she too is doing her family tree.

Have fun discovering all about this new branch to your tree.

Made contact with another rellie!

On this occasion a lady in America whose grandfather was a brother of one of my late uncles!

She is so excited to have been contacted by myself, and we have swapped email details. I am now on a hunt on family photos that have my aunt and uncle!

Tree is getting bigger!

So pleased for you Gail, it's lovely when you find a new branch and even better when it's a close one.

Since I started doing this I have found the family of 1 of my great aunts ( 3 of them I knew and the 4th I knew about ) was over the moon with a photo of my Dads old dog. I also have met my 2nd half cousin and I don't think my Dad even knew about that side of the family.

I hope you have the same enjoyment with your "new" family as I have had with my half cousins

Thanks Uzzi.

I feel that these new links, are going in the same direction as your own.

So looking forward to exchanging more info. The uncle whose family I have contacted, is an uncle though marriage. But I was closer to him, my Uncle Arthur, than others, who are blood links. That is life....
