First a fox....now a deer!

Yesterday morning, when in the garden, looked over the fence and saw a fox. It ran away when it realised that it had been seen.

This afternoon, I really did to have to look and look again! On this occasion, none other than a deer, was walking around on the waste ground, to the side of our house.

It has to be said, that there have been foxes in the past, although, not so often recently.

But a deer to me , is a newbie.?

Although we live in a village, there are lots of roads, and also, the railway, nearby. We also have lots of woodlands, so, perhaps that is where our new visitor is staying!

Just goes to show, once again, that these wild?! creatures, are looking for habitat, nearer to us.

It's amazing how these creatures venture into previously unthought of places.
Driving from Midlands back to Kent we stayed in a hotel at a motorway services.
In the early hours I looked out and saw a young deer wandering in the grounds, just below our window.

I seem to 'find' deer.
Once, walking home from work, I came off a street (College Street) to 'The Weirs' (pedestrianised bit by the river) and came face to face with a deer by a yew tree. We both jumped!
Another time, my friend and I had just turned off the M3 to get to my house, when we saw a young deer by the side of the road. Friend stopped the car so I could open the door and scare the silly billy away from the motorway!

Hi Gail

Deer are getting to be a problem. You used to only see them in winter when they came down from the snowy hill's. Not now they are getting brave. I heard they have got a taste for roses and other garden shrubs/plants etc.

Two weeks ago my OH hit a deer in a place he has never seen them.
Luckily he wast hurt the deer was lucky too ,it was killed outright.
But...the car has been in for two weeks being repaired. no idea the total cost but it's £150 right away for us :((
They are a danger getting.

Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 4 Jul 2009 22:50

I was sitting in the yard this morning having a cuppa, when I noticed something move in the neighbours yard.

On second look it was a cat. Just a cat so I ignored it. A couple of mins. later something else caught my eye in the same spot. This time larger. A coyote must have picked up its scent and followed the cat looking for some breakfast.

I called the neighbour as they have a young daughter who is always in the yard playing.
