Julia, have a look on Amazon before you splash out - you may well find it's cheaper on there! |

Just realized I did not get the book at the time the programme was shown. I will look for it in readiness. I could have done with this thread having been put up on Tuesday as I was in Derby yesterday and could have gone to W.H Smiths. Never mind, I have plenty of time to look for it. |

Thanks for this Keziah, I loved the series ... it was a great help to letting us see how 'tough' things were for our ancestors :) |

One of the reasons I liked this programme so much, was that it was set in 1881, which is where alot of us start our researches from. It gave me an insight into the way of life at that time, and the fashions. If they wanted something, they had to actually make it themselves. No going down the high street to pick something up. It was only three years after that date that M&S started up. |

Oh Keziah, many thanks for letting us know that. Both my OH and I watched all of the first series, and found it very interesting.. Whilst at the garden centre during that time, I saw a basket which reminded me very much of the one that Ruth made, so I had to have it. I will look out for the programme when the time comes. |

There are to be another 3 episodes of this fantastic series at Christmas. They are filming it now at Acton Scott in Shropshire. |
