Family never fail to amaze me either. My sister has phoned to ask why my daughter and I haven't been to see her new grandson. Since my sister left her family and remarried her children have had nothing to do with our side of the family. They wouldn't go to my father's funeral, they haven't acknowledged christmas cards or the births of my grandchildren and have no intention of taking their children to see my mother. But apparently I'm being petty because I've done nothing more than send a card.

I would love you as a step sis also, but I am not sure its my step sis's that are the problem. The major contact is StepMummy dear and she asks me not to contact or not to say this that or the other. I had a great life with her kids the eldest I kew from 7 and for awhile we lived in the same building, the youngest I knew her as a mewling baby but became so close to her. ( we have shared holidays and ermm things in the past )

Iam fortunate in that there are not many re-marriages in my family.

One exception, being my Uncle Bill who, sadly ,died just over a week ago.He re-married 19 years ago, although had a son and daughter to his first wife, who was my aunt. Uncle was brother of my dad.

At uncle's funeral, which had a lovely turn out, my sister and I, were emotional, at the mention of our dad,uncle's twin, who passed away 1989.

What disappointed us, was the fact that only step aunt (present wife) was mentioned. No word of our aunt, and our cousin's mother! We felt let down, how did her children and grandchildren feel?

Only real connection that I have to step families, but can still be a bitter pill!

what I can't understand is why can't I jib at young sis ( as I do ) about marriage ...I can only think its cos Stepmummy is speaking out of turn and is trying to hide something ..but I remember a late night girlie talk we had
you know those hush hush cough behind the hand talks, about me and menopause. Stepmummy convincing me its just us !!!
The next day young sis says sorry to hear you are not well !!!!

Actually sounds a bit like some of our family we invite them to everything!
I have to read about their lives and deaths in the bleddy local paper.
I need family history from them so can't tell them where to go just yet. LOL

Some of my lot are the same Uzzi, I am the one who does all the emailing and texting etc ... but made to feel guilty for their not replying ! hmmm something wrong somewhere lol

Actually I DO want to rant but words really do fail me on it. Stray if they wanted to say bye then thats fine but even though they are step they ARE family and have been for over ( counts.. errr well over half of my life )

Uggs if they were in-laws I could well ignore it but this is the family my Dad asked me to accept and I did for 30+ years.

My Stepmum phoned yesterday. ( last conversation with her was about 6 weeks ago ).
So I have discovered that I am step aunty to a 5week old nephew ( This is the same step-sis that I discovered was pregnant 2 years ago 7 weeks before she was due )
I was also informed that my youngest step sis gets married next month ( Maybe ) ermmm 6wks ago she was not living with boyfriend no more they had split up, but not to mention to her that I know until she tells me. And step mummy who was very very skint last time I spoke to her, has just bought a 3bed house in the UK.

THEN she tells me that we all should stay in touch as it is what Dad would have wanted.!!

Hello ..........am I missing something here ? I haven't changed my address, email or phone number in the 5yrs I have been here. and the last email I sent to youngest sis ( who I have known since 6mth old ) was 4days ago.
