i back up my FTM to a memory stick and its very easy to do.
Anita hasn't come back to say which tree she wants to back up so cant give her any more advise till she does,

You should always back up your data, usually after any major update or data entry. I copy my tree ( held in Legacy), any photos and documents on the computer to a cd, date it then you can file a series of them. If you want to be realy clever then keep a copy of the cds at a friends house so that if yours burns down you've still got your data -:))).

Do you mean your tree on Genes?? this is held on their website so will always be accessable unless you delete your tree. You dont have to back it up at all, If your PC goes kerput it will still be on Genes website when you log back in again from another PC.

I don't know how to do this either but what a good idea. Hope someone is able to explain this in a simple step by step. I am not very confident with comps for this sort of exercise.

I would liketo save all the information on my tree to a portable hard drive, so if in any case my coputer dies, I will still have that information can anyone help please.
