My reply was not meant to be harsh but just pointing out the guidelines.

A lot of times when posts are duplicated it upsets members who are working on one board and then find the post is on another board - where the questions have already been answered.

I defintiely dont think is a mis-transcribe as she was always known as a girl as Harris and married as spinster Harris.

The Hynams name she has always mentioned and says her father was Harris then on another day says it was Hyams (she has very slight dementia), On Barnett Hyams death cert definitely says Hyams for his name and also definitely Hyams for informants name.

Have checked UK and Irish records for marriage of Rachel Marie Kavanagh, then death of same all to no avail. have got birth record of Rachel Marie Kavanagh in 1888 in Dublin.

This would have made her 23 when Eileen was born and Barney or Barnett 43, so could she have been his young floosy whilst Emma Hyams was his wife tucked up at home?

Maureen,

I am sorry I dont understand your post, I am not aware I have broken the rules?
I have put he message on both as often I have seen the message on 'general 'that you should also try putting the page up in 'Trying to Find', is this what you are referring to that I have done wrong?

I must say Maurenn your comment seems a little harsh towards me, perhaps you didnt intend it that way but thats the way it has come across, if I have done wrong I apologise, but it has been done in complete innocence........

Hi Jane,
I wonder is Hyams is a mis-transcription of Harris. The rri in Harris may have been interpreted as an m...?

Maybe this was an illegimate birth, here is what we have
Eileen Kathleen Harris - Father listed as Barney Harris and mother as Rachel Marie Kavanagh in 1911.
Cannot find marriage or death of Rachel (birth in Ireland) however Hyams has also been mentione dby Eileen (still living) and can find a death of a Barnett Benjamin Hyams in 1927 and a marriage in 1888 to an Emma (on his death certificate informanat E Hyams wife of deceased). Eileen does not remember her mother as told she died when she was 2 or 3 and raised by neighbour and apparently 'Barney' used to come and visit occasionally and buy her some clothes.
Could it be that Barnett had an affair with Rachel? Address of informant of birth 44 Lavender (cant read if Hill or what) Battersea in Oct 1911.
Any views on this greatly appreciated as this is a real brick wall and would be great to let Eileen know some of her past before its too late!!! Eileen will be 98 in October......

have also placed this on Trying to Find board.
Thanks

Jayne
