Dear All

Today is the longest day of the year.

Will anyone be getting up early to see the sunrise?
No, I thought not!

Anyways, the sun is at its height.
After today, the sun very slowly begins to recede.

In olden times, this celebration time was called
"The Festival of Achievement". Our ancestors looked
back on their journey from the Winter Solstice .

Around this time, it is good to go outdoors.
Long nature walks, to go anywhere to enjoy nature.

Its also a time to count our blessings and cherish
the people we love and care for.

So be contented and have peace at this time.

Very best wishes
xx

Hi Elizabeth, even tho I am in the UK, because of my odd sleeping habits I am usually awake to see the sunrise, and I expect I will be today too. I often stand outside for a few moments enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the early part of the day before going up to sleep for a few hours, and today I have to get up again around 1pm to go out to visit some gardens opened in aid of charity, with my partner, as his sons aren't around to take him out or spend time with him on Father's Day. He will have been to see his own father earlier while I sleep.
Let's hope it's a bright sunny and peaceful day for everyone - there are so many things arranged at different places to celebrate the summer time, open gardens, events, etc etc

It is also Prince William's 27th Birthday and I hope his Mum is watching him celebrate his special day too.

At 3am this morning the sky was a few shades lighter than what I thought it should be at that time of morning.

I thought it was my eyes playing tricks alongside my clock..

Greetings from the other side of the planet.

Here we are celebrating (not) the winter solstice.

From now on our days will become longer, and hopefully warmer, and brighter and........................ well you understand.

I have had a lovely day with OH ,my daughter ,son and his girlfriend, and the daughter of my best friend (who died) with her fiancee from Dubai. They fly back tomorrow. She thinks of my OH as her second Dad,which makes me a bit tearful as she has no contact with her own father.
I hope everyone has had a lovely day.....Will it still be light at 11 o clock?
