The 1962 film, The Longest Day was panned by the critics, as a matter of fact it still is derided by the TV critics when it is occasionally screened.
Every scene in the film is based on fact, gleaned in many cases from those who were actually involved, supplemented by Cornelius Ryan's book and also "Dawn of DDay" written by David Howarth. The latter was the testimonies of hundreds of DDay participants.

Despite what the so-called experts say, "The Longest Day" remains the definitive pictorial record of DDay and will no doubt continue to give information and enjoyment to generations to come.

Definition of "Expert" : Ex means has-been and spurt is a drip under pressure.

maybe?

" 'The Eve Of St Mark' gives us a chance to see the actor (Vincent Price) working in another unfamiliar genre, the war film. This, however, is a military drama with a distinctly supernatural aspect, the title being derived from the old superstition that those who sit in church on the Eve of St Mark's Feast Day (that's April 24, non-Christians) will see images of those who will die over the course of the coming year"

Not terribly well up on my bible Mel, but sure that St Mark who was responsible for the 'Gospel of...' did not die 10 days after Jesus, and that is the Mark who is celebrated on April 25th ( date of his martyrdom in AD 68 apparently).

xx

sorry Rose your right Mark died several years later he was but a child in Gethsemane I have no idea why its celebrated like that in our church except what I was taught about Gethsemane ~ Mark was the Evangelist he was cousin to Barnabus in Acts he is the reason Barnabus and Paul fell out he lived a good long life so my apologies Rose my brain not what it was x
