securing network help for a numpty

When husband installed Belkin Mimo on my new computer last year he said he would secure the network later. More than a year on my network is still unsecured, I can't find the CD and the Belkin manual online may as well be in a foreign language.

I know I will have to go to PCWorld or internet provider eventually but in the meantime, an array of neighbours are 'sharing' my network without my permission and I think it's affecting my network speed.

Can anyone save me the run around and tell me in simple terms how to secure my Belkin Mimo, please?

Cheryl,

Sorry, I dont know but my OH had problems securing our new belkin modem a few weeks back. It very nearly ended up back at PC World or worse still through a window.

Hope someone can help!

love T.x

You get the option to secure it when you install the CD, if you have not got the CD go to this website and look at the PDF,

www.belkin.com/.../Securing%20Your%20Wireless%20Network.pdf

This will help you secure it.

Any neighbours using your network will certainly slow down the speed at which it operates.

Thanks for the link Ron.

I wonder if they are downloading big stuff. I hope so because it would explain why my internet runs slowly intermittently and also because now I know they are 'sharing' my network I flick the power off the router when I see they are online!
