Hi all

A computer engineer installed Mcafee as part of my service to my computer. There are now various threads on GR that I am unable to view, together with the whole of page 4 of general board.

Is it just my computer or is there something wrong with GR at the moment?

There are various other things I can't view such as some of the news items on the Yahoo home page so I am wondering if Mcafee is the culprit, and the parental controls are not letting me view anything which may have a naughty word in the text.

Also, the computer crashed 7 times today, which was the reason it went to the engineer in the first place.

I would appreciate your opinions.

Hi Shelli

Now you mention it he did say something about age group. I haven't been at all well today so I couldn't take in what he was saying.

Could you tell me how to alter the age group please?

Sorry Shelly, it's not working.

Control panel - ok

User accounts - ok

But then there is absolutely nothing to be seen about family safety?????

Hullo Dianne,

double click the Mcafee icon( by the clock) and on the menu that will come up should be " Parental Controls"

I dont have mine set up, but YOU may have......click on that

Hi
with my version of Mcafee I have a red M on the tool bar, right hand side.
right side click on it and it brings up a menu
I have to log in as the administrator (code word needed)
then I can go into configure and change the parental settings
hope thats useful

Hi everyone, and thank you for your replies. The chap came back this evening and got it all sorted out for me, and also showed me how to do it.

I had been put down as a teenager so anything with a naughty word or picture I was unable to get. For instance I was able to do my food shopping online at a certain supermarket A**a, but if I tried to get into their clothes site Geo**e at A**a, I was barred out because they sell bras and knickers as well as other clothes lol.

We have had a multitude of problems lately with the computer crashing every few minutes and also blue screening so he had taken it away and completely stripped everything to give us a fresh start. It is going to take me forever to get all my genealogy sites back into my favourites, never mind all the other sites I go to.

Oh well, it will keep me out of mischief.
